Whose Time Is It, Anyway?

Here’s a story for you. I decided to treat myself to coffee at a Starbucks for my Mommy Time-Out the other day. I went with the mindset that I would buy my drink, find a quiet spot and read my book. Unfortunately, things did not turn out as I expected. There was a nice gentleman that talked to me the whole time, and at one point he even asked me to watch his personal belongings while he got a refill! I did, but when he returned, I politely got up and found another spot where there was peace and quiet. I was determined to take care of me and I am happy to say I did, and went home renewed.  There is nothing wrong with being politely selfish. It’s up to us to take control of our MTO and make it happen, before, after and even DURING.  Because if we don’t, who will?

We’d love to hear your MTO challenge. Were you able to overcome it?

  1. Ladies:

I love that you had the courage to create your own quiet space…to stick to your original plan…congratulations! In doing so, you demonstrated so much self-respect and self-love. I love creating quiet time for myself. I love eating out…alone. Sometimes, I feel I get more from my MTO when I am in a public space, than when I create alone time in my empty home. It’s all good and so worthwhile.

    • Thanks, Jeannette :) There is something refreshing about going to your favorite restaurant and treating yourself. I used to do it all the time before the kids came along. Now, I have to cater to their tastes – which are limited. While I enjoy going out with them, it IS a nice change to sit quietly and enjoy a meal I didn’t have to prepare and that I haven’t had in a while.
