A couple of weeks ago, I was set to have a relaxing MTO. I was looking forward to slowly making my way through the mall getting gift ideas, maybe treat myself to a pretzel or lunch, then hit a few other stores and just enjoy the shopping all by myself.
That morning, however, my littlest one woke with a fever that ended up lasting 3 days. Her back teeth were cutting in so needless to say, the days were as restless as the nights.
I couldn’t reschedule my MTO in that week since I lost almost half of it, but honestly I was okay with that. There wasn’t anywhere else I wanted to be than with my 10-month old helping her through this tough time.
Sometimes our MTOs just won’t happen. It’s a consequence of being a mom. So we miss one once in a while, as long as it’s the exception and not the rule, right?
Do the best that you can to have that time for yourself, and when things come up that prevent them, don’t stress. Just deal with what you need to deal with and get back to your regular MTOs as soon as you can. Taking a Mommy Time-Out should never be a stressful endeavor.
