I know Thanksgiving tends to be the holiday where we eat the most, and as moms we will most likely do all of the cooking, entertaining, taking care of people’s needs, and cleaning up all the mess… but who’s going to take care of us?

So you ate too much, what a great opportunity to ask a family member or friend to watch the kids so you can go out to for more walks than usual to lose those extra pounds.  Or, go on a date with your significant other, maybe even a double date.

Last year my dear cousin Daniella was visiting from Las Vegas. We took advantage of the extra days off of work and left the kids with my niece while we met for coffee with some other old high school friends that were in town. We reminisced and laughed at how silly we were for the things we did way back when, how we thought we knew everything, and how we were certain our lives would turn out. We had a rare opportunity to look back as a group of friends and realize how much has changed and how much we’ve grown. That Mommy Time-Out last year created a whole new and wonderful memory for me with my friends, one I will cherish forever.

So whether you eat a lot of turkey or not, this Thanksgiving holiday just be kind to yourself and make it a point to take your Mommy Time-Out, and know that no matter what you do, you will be thankful you did it, as long as it was for YOU!
