Let me start this blog off with some truth. We’re a bit nervous, scared is more like it, at starting this blog. I mean, who are we to offer friendly advice on the importance of mothers taking a time out? We’re not doctors, we don’t have a degree in family anything, and we have only written one book on Mommy Time-Outs (more about that later!)
But what we do have, which no degree or shingle on the door can match, is real life experience. We ARE mothers. And we do reach our limit. We know what happens – and can happen – when a mother is stressed, strained, on edge, over-tired and just plain out of it. A simple time-out can go a long way in leveling things. And that’s what we want to help mothers achieve.
Taking a time-out is not being selfish – it’s a necessity.
So do something for yourself this week. At least a half an hour, if not longer. Whether it’s taking a bath while your hubby/partner watches the kids, or treat yourself to a cup of coffee at a cafe while your kids are on a play date, just do it! Be alone with your thoughts, uninterrupted. You will be amazed at how good you will feel.
And let us know how it goes. We’d love to hear from you!
